Artist of the week 2-20-12!

Donald Glover is an actor, writer, comedian and musician. Many people recognize Glover from the critically acclaimed show Community, where he plays a young adult named Troy going through Community College. Glover took the underground music scene by storm when he released his third self produced album “Culdesac”. I have been jamming Gambino for a while now and must say he keeps evolving, ever new song leaves me wanting more. Check it out!

M.I.A is one of those artists that people have heard of but don’t really recognize her music. Every song she has put out to this day is in its own category, they don’t sound like your typical music. There really isn’t a plausible way for me to describe M.I.A in a blog post so i’m going to include the video for her newest single too! Check it out!

Kid Cudi has been one of my favorite hip hop artists since he dropped his first mixtape back in 2008. Cudi isn’t your typical hip hop artist, he puts his heart and soul into his music and makes you feel his pain through his tunes. This is Cudi’s first side project with famous producer Dot Da Genius, together the duo is known as WZRD. Here is their first single off of their upcoming CD due out in late February. Check it out!

Wordspit the Illest is a good friend of mine straight out of Brooklyn.

I’ve been jamming The Weeknd for a while now, well since he dropped his first mixtape/EP in the fall.
Classifying The Weeknd as RnB is wrong, i should be slapped for doing so, he blends together every feeling that goes with love, anger, sadness, regret, and most of all euphoria. Every song has this grimy undertone that just screams “dirty love making music”. I warn you now, you may want to shower after listening to any of his songs.
I chose this weeks song due to it being a Michael Jackson cover of “Dirty Diana”, Check it out below!

El Camino is the seventh album released by The Black Keys. It is set to be released Dec. 6, 2011, but there is one leak out and since this week is kind of slow, I figured why not. So here’s “Lonely Boy” from their upcoming album!! Enjoyyy!!

Whatever will be released November 29, 2011 which will be their second studio album. Last week New Found Glory released its latest album Radiosurgery. Overall this is their seventh album coming two years after their last album. The album was recorded in one of the band member’s home and only took three months to complete!

Mayday Parade is an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida. The band formed in 2005 when members of popular local Tallahassee bands Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment converged in 2006. They have four albums out in the five years they have been together. Tales Told by Dead Friends was released in 2006, A Lesson in Romantics was released in 2007, Anywhere But Here was released in 2009, and Mayday Parade is expected to be released on October 4, 2011!
