Assistant Sports Director
Hello, my name is Damon Helgevold. I’m the Assistant Director of Sports for KZOW. As part of the station I co-host a show and broadcast on air most Warrior Athletics. I’m the voice of Warrior Football, Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Baseball, and Softball. I also help out with hockey broadcasts and wrestling. When I’m not on the air during the school year you can find me at the bowling alley as I’m a part of the bowling team on campus, hanging out with the bowling guys, or out working intramurals.
I’m a 2015 graduate of Clarke Community High School in Osceola, Iowa. Which is about 2 1/2 hours south of campus. As an Indian I was a 4 sport varsity athlete in football, bowling, golf, and baseball. I also participated in band, musicals and plays, speech team, NHS and class officer. In my free time what little there is I enjoy drag racing and going to the national event in Topeka, umpiring baseball, or coaching my travel baseball team! After college I’d love to be working for a local radio station calling all the areas high school sports and maybe as a bigger picture working with the Kansas City Royals broadcast crew. As you can tell sports are my life and without them I have no clue what I’ll be doing.
