Sports Director
Hello everyone! My name is Jarred Becker, I am from Chino, CA. and I am entering my last semester here at Waldorf University pursing my Bachelors Degree in Communications with an emphasis in Digital Media. My position here at KZOW is Director of Sports and I am also the voice of Waldorf Warrior Hockey and Volleyball.
I have served as the Director of Sports for the past 2 years here at Waldorf and I have enjoyed every minute of it. While fulfilling my position at KZOW, some of my duties will include updating necessary scoreboards, sports productions, and highlights from the previous week’s games along with putting together a preliminary broadcast schedule for each semester. I also head the sports group in our Monday night practicum meetings. During these meetings I will be assigning board operators for various sports broadcasts; assign students athlete liners; locate sponsorships for sports, and any additional production work as needed.
Over the summer I spent my time as an Intern with 98.7 Kiss Country in Mason City, IA. While with Kiss Country, I split time doing promotional events and as an on-air personality. With the station, I learned more about the daily operations of the station and also furthering my skills as a Radio Host.
Sports have been a huge part of my life growing up. I have played Football, Soccer, Hockey, Baseball, and have been wrestling for 16 years. I am an avid Los Angeles Angels, Anaheim Ducks and Dallas Cowboys fan. Over all I am very fascinated with things sports, whether it being rules, the origin of a particular sport or how the game is played in different parts of the world! Upon graduation, I hope to become a play-by-play voice for Hockey with my ultimate goal of working in the National Hockey League.
