Artist of the week 4-2-12

Usher has been one of my main RnB artists since I was a little squirt, that is until he ruined his career by making club bangers with Will.i.am. I’m happy to say Usher’s newest single “Climax” has gone back to his old sound and the song even has a sick producer backing it. Diplo gives the track a dubstep feeling without making it overpowering. I have been digging this song lately just because of the production value, if you listen just to the production you notice the song never truly hits a climax. Check it out!

The snow is slowly melting as the temperature rises which means spring is around the corner. During this time of year I change up my music selection and turn to up beat mellow tunes. Slightly Stoopid is a band that has a very unique sound and covers many genres including punk rock, reggae rock, dub and acoustic. Despite not putting out much new music you can still find Slightly Stoopid touring and playing at various blues festivals. Check it out!

Keeping true to the term ‘Vaudeville,’ this Minneapolis quintet strives to keep a unique variety in their music. After winning a Battle of the Bands, Vaudeville was given the opportunity to record their debut album ‘Dismantle The Sky’ in Nashville. The disc captures the band’s energy and unique sound, solidi
fying them as a force in the Minneapolis music scene. Vaudeville has been growing their fan-base and reputation, selling out venues and b
ecoming one of the most well-known and enjoyed live bands in Minnesota.
Working with ‘Greenlight Music,’ also based out of Minneapolis, Vaudeville has shared the stage with other renowned local bands, such as Machine 22, Green Sweater Society, and Seventh Ascent, and national acts including The Meat Puppets, Forever the Sickest Kids, We The Kings, and Never Shout Never.
Recently Vaudeville released the single ‘Treason’ and has begun work on their sophomore album, due out in mid-2010. Continuing to grow with their talent and dedication to music, Vaudeville is certain to continue on the path they’ve begun and change the face of alternative rock music.
